PRESIDENT OF ROTARY INTERNATIONAL
IN GREAT BRITAIN & IRELAND 2010-2011
Jim Moulson
Jim and his family have had their home in Paisley, Scotland's largest town, since 1972. The elder of his 2 daughters is married and he has 2 grandchildren - Lewis and Rebecca who are 10 years and 6 years old respectively.
Jim was a policeman from 1967 until he retired from the superintending ranks of Strathclyde Police in September, 2000, to commit himself to his responsibilities as District Governor in 2001 - 2002.
Apart from his family, Rotary has been Jim's consuming interest since he became a member of the Rotary Club of Paisley Callants in 1984. He had the privilege and most enjoyable pleasure of being president in 1994/95, joined the district team as club service chairman in 1996, and was elected as an assistant governor in 1998. Counsellor to Ambassadorial Scholars Lori Jo Eisele (nee Payne) and Yoshinori Ikeda.
Jim has served R.I.B.I. as a member of its Executive, Triennial Review, and 2 Conference Committees; Chairman of the Communications Committee; Chief and Assistant Chief Sergeant at Arms, an Assembly Training Leader and Institute Moderator. In addition to being Governor, he has served R.I. as a Committee member, an International Training Leader and most recently as an Assistant Chief Sergeant at Arms at the R.I. Convention in Birmingham. Jim passionately believes that fellowship and fun are the twin pillars that provide the strong foundation upon which we build our commitment to rotary service.
When younger, he participated in the sports of field athletics, rowing and rugby to club, international and county level respectively. He still has a keen interest in these sports, but, sadly, only as a spectator. His main sporting interest nowadays is lawn bowls, especially its development and promotion with youth. He has served the administrative bodies at club, county and national levels and is currently in his twelfth year as a councillor on the national association. He plays the game infrequently, non-competitively and simply for recreation.
Jim also serves as chairman of his local YMCA and is Vice Chairman of the National Council in Scotland and sits on the Executive and Resources Committees; he is a past deacon of the principal trade incorporation in Paisley, sits on the management committee of another charitable organisation and is an elder of the Church of Scotland.
